The best time to plant peonies is in early fall, so they will have time to become established in the soil before winter. Peonies do not respond well to transplanting, so choose your planting location carefully. Long-lived (peonies may live up to 50 years!), the plants do not need to be divided and can be left undisturbed for years. Remove spent flowers as they fade, then cut back plant after the foliage has died down in fall. Reliable and vigorous, this Itoh peony grows in a medium bush of glossy, dark green foliage. Enjoy a magnificent bouquet of white peonies at home! 'Cora Louise' makes excellent cut flowers with a long vase life (over a week) if cut in bud. As a bonus, this Itoh peony is pleasantly fragrant! This late midseason peony will flower in late spring - early summer for several weeks thanks to the many side buds which open in sequence. Borne in profusion (expect up to 50 blossoms on a mature bush!), they are well presented above the foliage, on strong, erect stems that do not require staking. wide (20-25 cm), that delicately open to reveal flushed lavender to purple petals at their heart that surround a cluster of golden stamens.
